Could Clemens Really Be Innocent?

I keep remembering back to that World Series, Game 2, Clemens throws the shards of a pointy shard of a bat at Piazza as he heads toward first. Clemens looked like he was on drugs. Then you look at his record, a few years of mediocrity with Boston before having 2 GREAT years with the Blue Jays.

But he's not backing off, and he's fighting these accusations BIGTIME. Would he do that if he were feeling guilty? I don't know...(I'll still hate him, even if he did just shoot B-12)..If Piazza only woulda knocked him out, I'd feel better....

Yeah I'm a Clemens hater too, not even because he threw the bat shard at Piazza, i always felt like that was coincidental.

The tape recording of Clemens and Mcnamee's phone conversation is truly great though. Must listen.

In my opinion, all this does is hurt clemens. This comment made by someone on the espn message board encompasses a lot of peoples thoughts.

"when mcnamee says "what do you want me to do" and "ill go to jail if you want" combined with the end where clemens seems to be somewhat apologetic makes it seem like mcnamee is so loyal to roger that he is willing to reverse his statement, and lie and say that roger never took steroids. mcnamee sounds like a broken man with his wife gone and his kid dying and now the truth coming out about his number 1 client and friend roger clemens."

If I had to guess what actually occurred when Mcnamee shot Roger. I'd say that Mcnamee, because talking about steroids wasn't an open thing, made implications that he can help Roger perform better by shooting him up with "b-12". They both knew what it really was but technically it was never spoken of. Roger probably suspected it but he never wanted to truly know, kinda like when a teacher knows kids are cheating on tests but it helps them so they look the other way, or when a boyfriend knows his girlfriend is cheating on him, but will almost go out of his way not to find out because he wants to avoid a potential confrontation or having to make a life changing decison

or he just took steroids and is a big fat liar

he should have knocked him out, but probably seeing the roid induced rage in clemens eyes scared him. this too was after clemens hit piazza in the head during the regular season with a 98 mph fastball. btw - clemens isnt a small dude, and piazza's tough guy goatee was only superficial, plus the rocket is from texas, they dont fuck around down there. they drink shiner bock and get all rowdy and fight anyone wearing oklahoma apparel.

anyways, clemens definitely took steroids, and judging from the fact that the congressional hearing was postponed to gather other evidence against him, it only makes his denial look terrible
