HATE: We Should Have NEVER Signed Brett Favre

I've been dying to say it all year but I didn't have all the hard evidence to prove it yet. The record indicated that he was doing a good job. A 6 touchdown performance padded his stats. A Pro Bowl bid disguised his true effect on the team. But ever since I wrote this post "DO NOT WANT...Brett Favre on the Jets" on July 23rd when the Jets were thinking about signing the erratic, washed up, interception throwing machine known as Brett Favre, I knew it wasn't going to work out. Here is an excerpt from the "2nd reason" of that blog...

"2) I just don't think he is that good, he throws a ton of picks and isn't that mobile anymore. With the exception of last year, he continuously made bad decisions like throwing into double coverage, holding on to the ball too long and getting sacked."

This is exactly why we lost in the game against the Seahawks. Brett held onto the ball too long in critical situations and that was the key to him losing 37 yards on 4 sacks. He also threw 2 picks. One of them was probably the worst throw I have seen in my entire life. Shaun Ellis throws 40 pound snow boulders better than Favre throws passes. He under threw a complete duck of a pass into double coverage across the field on his back foot. You know what happened after that horrid pass? CBS cut to a Wrangler jean commercial featuring him running around in a field with his fat idiot friends. That was the last straw.

I am going to go ahead and proclaim the next statement. If fact, I am going to put it in bold and uppercase lettering like your obnoxious boss does when he wants you to know that he is serious in his emails to you.

IF CHAD PENNINGTON WAS THE JETS QUARTERBACK THEN WE WOULD HAVE EITHER 11 AND BE PREPARING FOR THE PLAYOFFS

That's right I said it. Brett has hurt this teams chances to making the playoffs while Chad has been mercilessly leading his less talented team to what might be an 11 win season. Don't you think that if Chad was our QB that we would have won the Oakland game? What about the 49ers game? The Seahawks or Chargers games? Chad beat all 4 of those teams soundly while Brett looked like Brownie Nagle in the 1992 season.

Here is a comparison of the Chad and Brett's stats in the games against the Seahawks, 49ers, Chargers and Raiders.

Chaddington
Completion % 68%
Average Passing Yards 184
TD's 4
Int's 1

Brett Favre
Completion % 62%
Average Passing Yards 198
TD's 4
Int's 9

These stats clearly show that if you were in favor of Brett Favre coming to the Jets that you don't know anything about football. It's OK, not everybody is an expert. I'm not trying to say I am an expert either. I'm clearly an idiot more often than not actually. I did, do, and always will know that Brett Favre should have never been signed and that we would have been much better off with Chad.

Brett your finished. Just retire already. I wish you would have retired last year instead of wasting the Jet fans time, money, and hopes this season.

I dare you to tell me why I'm wrong!

I would rather do these three things, in any order, than read non sense like that again.

-Drink a bladder buster Super Double Big Gulp, then drive across country without stopping once, with Emmit Smith in shotgun.

-Watch Shindlers list

-Watch Shindlers list, driving across country, with a bladder full of mountain dew, with an irrational CBS football analyst.

In fact, this website should be called www.shindlersotherlist.com (I checked the availability on godaddy and its available for a hot $9.99)

Chad was sick of Long Island. He is surrouned by hot women and even hotter tempered old jewish men sending soup back at kosher delis. While he does look like a young Dennis Quaid in Everbodys Favorite All-AMerican, he is throwing the ball like Icebox in little Giants.

I have always been a big Chad fan and no doubt he is having a much better year then Favre. But I am not sure we would be any better with Chad. And the reason is Eric Mangini and our inept coaching staff. Clueless, gutless Mangini would probably not get as much out of Chad as Miami's coaching staff has.

I understand people always look to the coach as a scapegoat, and many times it is justified. But I watch every game intently and the reason why he and the coordinators call the games the way they do is because of Favre's ineptitude. They can't call long pass plays or be aggressive because they know that chances are he will make a bad decision. I mean 19 int's this year? How can any coach be successful when his QB's are making throws like that? Not to mention getting sacked and losing yards. Like i try to sya in the article, if we had a smart qb who made decisions (i.e. Chad or really any other smart QB) then we could easily have 11 or 12 wins going into the last game

You say Mangini doesn't have confidence in Favre, that's why he calls games the way he does. Is that why he made an idiotic decision to go for it on 4th down with 2:30 left and 3 timeouts left at the Seahawks 23?? Not to mention that Favre's pass was right in Coles' hands (albeit his only good pass of the game).

Chad Pennington wouldn't have made a difference on this team. By getting cut and going to Miami, he was motivated to have a good year. He had that fire again. And where did Pennington play those 4 games against the west coast teams? In Miami, you fool.

Favre has 19 picks, yes. And some were costly. But his second pick on Sunday was a Hail Mary at the end of the game. How did that affect anything?? I'm sure there were more like that. Because of Favre, Jones and Washington are having outstanding years (defenses actually have to respect the quarterback...they can't put 8 men in the box).

its easy being a Monday morning coach. Mangini going for it there could have gone either way. Having 3 timeouts left doesn't secure you a win, all it does is give you a small chance to get the ball back with a minute left in the fuckin snow, and that's if you stop the Seahawks which they didn't do in the second half at all. Seneca Wallace looked like Steve Young out there. Which admittedly, isn't Favre fault unless you consider the fact that he couldn't sustain a drive which led to the defense being completely fatigued.

It is hard to disagree with that one though, I felt like the game was lost before that anyway. Punting certainly doesn't win you the game but it may have been better in that situation. I also felt he should of went for a field goal after the penalty was called too

Chad is a motivated individual regardless, he was just as motivated to beat out kellen in the preseason qb competition, i can't take an argument like that seriously sorry. And Chad didn't pretty good in -10 temps with 25 mph wind last Sunday leading a crappy Phins team to victory

The reason why Jones and Leon did well this season has to do with a much revamped O line. Faneca? Woody? A much improved Brick and Mangold? THAT is the reason why the Jets run game is successful. And not to beat a dead horse but the Chad led Phins are running pretty good too with what you say is an inferior QB

With all seriousness though, thanks for the comment I appreciate it. I hope to see you on here again

How can you say the Jets didn't stop the Seahawks all second half? They scored 13 points?? When they got the ball back with 2:30 left, they didn't get a first down.

The reasonable play there is to punt the ball. The Seahawks get it at their 30 or 40 with 2:20 left. Run a play, timeout. Run a play, timeout. Run a play. 2 minute warning. Punt. Jets get the ball back (probably where they were, at the 20 or so) and you have 2 minutes with a fresh set of downs. No, it doesn't assure victory, but it gives you a better chance.

Good point about Pennington in KC. But remember, this is his first good year in the last 5. Would he have done that in New York? Who knows?

Last point, yes, I'm a Favre fan. But I have said for the past 5 years that he is nothing after Thanksgiving. I said that to fans here last year and no one believed me. He is proving it again. Love the guy; first ballot HOFer, but he should have stayed retired.

No, you're ABsolutely right, so I thought you'd enjoy this:

Twas the Night Before....

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the night
New York teams played football - just one was uptight
The Giants were golden, but the Jets had a care
The Dolphins would soon kick some butt in their lair.

The Giants were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of Super Bowl danced in their heads
Coughlin full of mischief, a bye in his lap
The Vikings were next, but who gave a crap?

Mangini aloof, his season in tatters
He only sees red when his quarterback shatters
His game plan, his processes, all just a mash
His free agents butter, but they’d get their cash.

His team had collapsed on the new-fallen snow
Seattle had proven his receivers slow
Then what to his wondering eyes should appear
The Fish on the schedule, good reason to fear.

That his fickle old driver, once lively and quick
To capture a moment would soon make him sick
His punter not Feagles, his offense so lame
He bristled to think he’d have no one to blame.

Not Bret Favre the Dancer !
He’d sure get his licks in
As fast if not faster
Than Domenick Hixon!
From the podium porch
With his back to the wall
He’d trash away, trash away
Trash away all!

Dry heaves Eric conquered, his stomach a tie
He worked on his game plan, the old college try
His charges, he knew that they’d soon need a clue
When the Dolphins arrived, and Chad Pennington too!

Oh how, in a twinkling, as if Chad needed proof
That Tanenbaum chose to remain quite aloof
Chad managed to turn a lost franchise around
No dummy, the Tuna, he knew what he found.

Dressed orange-blue-green from his head to his foot
Field leader untarnished with ashes and soot
A team full of rookies he flung on his back
Game manager sound, he’d soon get them on track!

His eyes--how they twinkled ! His dimples, how merry !
To leave in his wake, a wideout named Cotcherry
As he went down South, he surely would know
That team managed down in Miami did not blow
In Ron Brown was someone to kick in your teeth
And Ricky, he’d circle the field like a wreath
And if that wasn't reason to turn on the telly
He'd throw to Fasano to make you look smelly!

NOT chubby or plump, a right scary young elf
Not arrogant either, played within himself
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Let all the Fish know they had nothing to dread!

Jets hopes of the finals may turn on his work
If he makes Mangini look like a jerk
Through Ronnie and Ricky his offense it flows
Sparano and Parcells, they smell like a rose!

How good would it play, if Chad lets go a missile
The TD to win, sweet as down on a thistle
And we hear Chad exclaim as he gets on his flight
“HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT ! "
