NYSS - An Abortion of New York Sports Journalism

There was no way Crosby could whine his way out of his Game 7 failure.

Now I know I should be writing about the Rangers’ long list of shortcomings and what they need to do to improve next season (which will come soon) but right now I really need to focus on the Pittsburgh Penguins.  A favorite of mine to talk some sh*t about…especially right now because they crashed, burned, and melted down so awesomely in their Game 7 against the Montreal Canadiens the outcome looked as if I had written the script myself.

The 8th seed Canadiens forced the defending chumps…I mean champs…to a Game 7 in a series some were calling a “cake walk.”  It was a horrifying and unthinkable scenario for any Penguins fan because that could only happen to people/teams like Ovechkin (a “born loser” some say) and the Capitals right?  NOPE.  Not only did the Penguins lose Game 7 and the series (hahaha), but they lost with all of their superstars producing nothing.  Literally nothing.  Marc-Andre Fleury had as big of a meltdown as anyone in the bird uniform last night.  He let in 4 goals on 9 shots.  “But he won a Cup, he won a Cup!….” uh huh and that Cup really did wonders last night.  Evgeny Malkin, another Pittsburgh superstar, was also non-existent throughout the series.  I honestly can’t say much about him because he was barely noticeable.

But NO ONE was more visibly absent than the league’s Golden Child and Penguins’ Captain, Sidney “I Whine for a Living Because I’m a Pansy” Crosby.  He had only one goal the entire series and was a -3 in Game 7 where his team needed him most, but instead, he was invisible.  Actually, I take that back, he wasn’t totally invisible.  The league’s biggest whiner took a boarding penalty in the first few minutes of the game that resulted in Montreal’s first goal and set the Penguins’ failure in motion.  I’m sure Penguins’ fans are scratching their heads trying to figure out what happened to their precious Sidney and trying to make excuses for him….maybe he didn’t have his diaper changed before the game started, who knows….but all I know is that his performance was atrocious.  That was his leadership skills at their best, clearly.

The moral of the story is that the Halak, who has been the one of the best if not the best players in the entire post season this year and the relentless Canadiens will move onto the Conference finals to play either Philadelphia or Boston.  And Pittsburgh…well, they’ll be saying goodbye to Mellon arena with a memorable game and hitting the golf course a little early this year.

Last night’s game, at least for me, partially made up for the fact that the Rangers didn’t make the playoffs this year so I can’t say RangersGal isn’t happy today because she is….she is.

Also would have accepted....

Sydney "Mario won't let me have chicks over" Crosby
Sydney "Why don't my teammates pay more attention to me" Crosby
and finally....
Sydney "my diaper is filled with poo" Crosby
