I am a Mets fan. I am a realistic Mets fan which means that I am well aware of the fact that the Mets suck and always will suck. Call me Negative Ned if you must. Whenever you think that the Mets might start to do something that will make me forget about the past 22 years of my baseball fan life, just let me know and I will plan for the future accordingly.
All of the dissension inside of me exists because there is one part of me that wants to be optimistic and another part of me that wants to be real pessimistic.
What happened with Slappy (my nickname for Luis Castillo) on Friday only perpetuates the pessimistic side of my internal Mets soul. It's on always one step forward two steps back with the Mets, and then they drop the ball. Puns intended.
This is why you can't get angry with losing the game on a routine pop up. You have to laugh about it. And what better way to laugh about it then to watch a sweater equipped cat play a musical instrument to the debacle.
