2010 NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS SEASON PREVIEW

Well it’s that time of year again, the best part of the year. That’s right, the official kickoff of the 2010 NFL Season is upon us. What better way to start a season then opening a $1.7 billion stadium in the middle

of the Dirty Jersey swamps (I’m from N.J. so I can say that!) Will disturbing Jimmy Hoffa’s final resting place be a good or bad omen? Only time will tell, but by the looks of Eli’s face after that botched play in the preseason opener this could be a long season. Will it end as disturbingly as it began? I’m no mind reader, just a prick with some opinions and a sprinkle of the truth. So here we go, your 2010 New York Football Giants Preview.

Offense

O-LINE

Most of our same crew is still intact, it’s important for an offensive line to build a solid relationship when you’re protecting our biggest investment and being the unsung heroes of our run game and team. The big signing of Shawn Andrews should take some of the injury woes Seubert and Snee have endured. Prior to signing Andrews, David Diehl has been jumping around playing everywhere at one point except center. Beatty is in competition also for left guard/tackle so it should be interesting how it plays out during the season and how many snaps everyone gets. Tom “big baby” Coughlin is going make sure the best people are out there at any given time. I think Coughlin is a handsome old man but NYSportsGuy thinks he looks like an old baby and believes Sexy Rex Ryan is more of a man weighing in at half a ton. Fat guys need loving too.

RB’S

In the past three years we went from earth, wind and fire to oversized freak show and pit bull. We traded fire, Jacobs being oversized freak show, hasn't been as dominating as we remember him in the past. When you run as hard as he does intentionally trying to kill people I don’t care how big and tough you are, your body is
going to feel it. He went from averaging 5 yards a carry in 2007 and 2008 to 3.7 last year. Last year was also the only year in the last three he didn’t break 1,000 yards rushing. The pint sized pit bull Bradshaw is a fucking beast. He had a rough year last year running on two broken legs practically. When he is healthy he is a force to be reckoned with. He’s the type of guy that can break a big run at anytime. If he gets 15 carries a game which I pray to God he will and stays healthy the Big Blue should have a run game like we saw a few years ago. As you all know for the G-Men to work we need an effective run game.

QB’S

I never thought I would say this, but I kind of miss David Carr. I mean yeah he was never good, but as far as back-ups go I liked him. Fast forward to 2010 and the signing of Jim Sorgi. I’m sure that if anyone watched Peyton Manning play for 7 years you have to learn something right? He looked good in the preseason opener, but one thing he didn’t learn from Peyton was being a man. He’s out for 2-3 weeks with a torn labia (torn capsule in throwing shoulder), just kidding and sorry ladies. The real problem I have with Sorgi-Porgi is that he’s played in 16 games in 7 years so if god-forbid Eli was really hurt what the hell would we do? I will say I was impressed with Rhett Bomar 13-26 for 167 yards, not awful. And now for our starter and face of the organization. She-li Manning (See what I did there). I want to start out by saying that I love Eli like a brother, he’s got a hot wife and he lives in Hoboken for shits sake. With that being said he needs to nut up and play like our franchise quarterback, and for all you pole smokers that hate on Eli go jump off a fucking bridge. Because I can’t really compare Eli to Peyton, I’m going to with someone that has as much experience, none other than Ben Rapelisberger. Below with thanks to NFL.com are their stats through their first 6 seasons. (Eli is on top)

Stats don’t lie; even though they are close Ben has the clear edge. But most importantly 1 more Super bowl championship and he’s raped at least 3 more girls. So that’s what I mean when I say nut up. I’m not saying Eli needs to be a more confident leader blah, blah, blah. Take a lesson from Big Ben and get out their party it up and assault some bitches!!!

WR’S

I think it’s safe to say that the top receivers are as follows; Steve Smith who holds the franchise receptions in a season record with 107 last year, Mario Manningham, Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden. I don’t remember the last time I got a boner watching the NFL Draft. Ok I do, besides the 2007 Draft it was when we picked up Nicks and Barden. Nicks has the big play potential that we desperately need. He is sure to make some big plays this season and should be a solid receiver as he grows in the league. Barden is a genetic freak all lanky and shit. However, apparently he has a back injury currently and Coughlin is trying to call him out on it. Now the guys that are fighting for their lives; Derek Hagan, Victor Cruz and Sinorice Moss. Unfortunately I think Moss may be the odd man out. Even though I like Moss, he has never really done shit outside of the preseason. Hagan had a dismal 8 catches last year, but is more versatile and plays on special teams. Last and certainly not least Victor Cruz from UMASS. That is not a typo I said UMASS, like I wasn't even positive they had a football team until I saw this bad ass score three touchdowns vs. the Jets in the preseason opener. I’ll tell you why he is so nasty; he’s from Paterson, N.J. Have any of you ever been to Paterson?? I use to frequent a strip club their called High Beams, it’s basically a house turned into a strip club. Right in the heart of the slums, if you didn't have a gun when you went in, they thought you were crazy. Ahh to be young and stupid. Anyway, if Smith has the season he had last year and these other guys are good targets for Eli we should be in good shape

Defense

D-LINE

Last year was VERY disappointing for this group. They were never able to get the pressure that they are more than capable of. This year should be very different for this group starting with Osi “I’m going to retire at 28” Umenyiora. Last year Osi was fresh off hip surgery, you don’t just bounce back from that, look for him to
make an impact. Tuck and Kiwanuka should make some big plays as well. The two most disappointing from this crew last year have to be Rocky Bernard and Chris Canty. Canty obviously gets scrutinized more because of his $42mm contract. That being said, where the fuck was he?? Seriously, it should never be hard to see someone that is
6-7 304lbs. I mean I understand that he draws a double team a lot which should help the rest of the line, but step it up bro! The only good thing he did for the Giants last year, not playing for the Cowboys any longer. The new addition of JPP is intriguing. He had a sack in the opener and the kid is an incredible athlete. Did you see his video where he did like 800 back flips in a row? SICK!! On paper this is a great D-line, if they don’t get pressure and stop the run, this is going to be another long year for the Defense.

LINEBACKERS

This group is going to have a lot to prove this season as well as Perry “Mad Dog" Fewell. Picking up where Sheridan left off isn’t going to be easy. Fewell wants to get back to a similar looking defense that my main man Spags had going, a lot of action and movement pre-snap to keep the offense guessing fake blitzing etc. All through camp they have been switching Bulluck, Stintim, Wilkinson and Goff, Tom Coughlin said, “to try and find the best situational players.” Boley who in my opinion is the best one-on-one cover linebacker will be matched up on Tight Ends primarily. This will enable most of the running action to go towards Stintim and Bulluck. Fewell essentially changed the terminology for weak side and strong side linebackers. Hopefully this will enable the G-Men to be more effective against the running game. Whatever you call it whether it’s weak or strong; we need people making plays on and off the ball more often. Hopefully the more experienced linebackers will teach these younger guys a thing or two. I ‘m just praying by week 1 vs. the Panthers the NFL spread favors the Giants and this shit will be straightened out.

SECONDARY

Injury plagued last year, this unit needs to step it up and not be the same bunch of chumps that showed up against the Saints and Eagles last season. Kenny Phillips was a key injury last year for this group, but the G-Men believe his rehab is right on schedule and he should be expected to play; we all need to hope that he
does. Corey Webster has looked good in the preseason getting a pick vs. the Steelers and should be back to form when the season opens. One of the great off season moves was the acquisition of Antrel Rolle. He picked off NYsportsGuys boyfriend
Mark "Dirty" Sanchez in the opener at the new stadium and almost took it to the house. If Phillips and Rolle stay healthy throughout the season they could be one of the best safety tandems in the league. This just-in Aaron Ross’ foot falls off (plantar fasciitis). This can be a troubling injury for someone that stops and cuts as much as he does. Hopefully sharing time with Terrell Thomas will eliminate future problems for Ross.

IN CLOSING

I hope everyone watches the 3rd preseason game Saturday for two reasons. Firstly, this game is typically when the starters play into the 3rd quarter so you can get a good feel on how the team looks.Secondly, you can tell me if I am full of shit or not based on the blood, sweat and tears I smeared all over this blog. I would love to sit here and tell you that the GIANTS are going to win the Super bowl this year, but I’m a realist and not an optimist due to 28 yrs of living on this planet. I think realistically we are going 10-6 this year, getting the wildcard and losing in the divisional round of the playoffs. I hope I’m wrong but again this is my opinion and a sprinkle of truth and if you don’t like it I really don’t give a shit.

WOW helluva job here Chris. I think your right on with Fewall being the most critical part of the Giants success, or lack of, this year.

Also, Dirty Sanchez isn't my bf, Revis is.
