If you haven't heard, New Yankee nepotistic (new word?) boss Hank Steinbrenner was inducted into the Red Sux Nation by owner John Henry
Henry wrote the following..."Just to ensure he knows how cool Red Sox Nation is, [Saturday] we officially inducted him as a member of Red Sox Nation and we are sending him his membership card giving him access to an array of options including our newsletter, bumper stickers, pins, Green Monster seats and a hat personally autographed by David Ortiz."
Then Steinbrenner responds by saying this..."I am not joining Red Sux Nation, honorary or not," Steinbrenner said shortly before the Yankees played the Phillies today at Legends Field. "I'll respond to that later. Trust me, I am not joining Red Sux Nation."
To some people, the fact that Hank would even make that type of response would be really stupid. What can I say? stupid or not he loves making the headlines, just like his old man used to.
Then Jonathan Papelbon wants to make this comment..."I don't know if he's trying to stir things up or not," he said. "I sure as hell don't care, because he sure as hell hasn't stepped foot on a baseball field. He needs to just stick to pencil-pushing, I guess. It's different if a player says that because they're the ones stepping between the war lines. Whatever, man. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, that's for sure. He's just trying to come up with something."
Honestly whether you are a Red Sux fan or Yankee hater or just impartial about the whole rivalry. Either way, you cannot deny the fact that that this guy is a huge douche. Sure he is a nasty closer but this is a serious whack move right here.
