Adam LaRoche Tells Beltran He Has No Class, Beltran Doesn't Care

Throughout Carlos Beltran's career in New York, the fans and media have always called for him to be more of a visible leader. To be more vocal when the team needs a swift "kick in the ass." He has done just that (or at least tried to) by trading verbal blows with Jimmy Rollins at the beginning of the year and most recently, calling out his team after getting embarrassed this past week in Pittsburgh.

This is what he said...

"There’s no doubt we have to play better. I mean, we have to take this personally. It can’t happen. It can’t happen us being able to come here and lose three games just like that. It just can’t happen. Three games with this team - I know they’re a big-league ballclub. And we know we’re better than them, but we have to do something about it.”

Adam LaRoche of the Pirates then said this...

“I think it shows zero class and zero professionalism. When somebody says that, they know what they’re saying, and they know it’s going to get out. He knows we’re not going to be real happy about it. If you go and say that to your buddies, it’s one thing. If you go to the media and make that public for us to hear? Yeah, that’s no class.”

Beltran then said this...

“What I said was as a team we should all feel embarrassed, because, being honest, I don’t care what he said. I believe we’re a better team than them. I know that we could have won the first game and there’s no excuse why we would have lost that one. If we would have won that one, I tell you we would have won one or two more. There’s no doubt.”

As much as I like to hear Beltran be critical about his team's poor play, I almost agree with LaRoche here. Not a ton of class. At the same time though, I'm not too concerned about Adam LaRoche's feelings or what his opinions of a classy individual are. I'm not sure what he expects other players to think, considering his team hasn't been good since Roberto Clemente was ripping doubles
