Mets Draft Analysis Compilation - Matt Harvey

I aim to collect the best quotes and analysis from all the sources for the Mets 1st round pick. Stripped of all the cliches, fanfare, and banalities.
Matt Harvey, RHP, 7th Overall Pick, Birthdate: 3/27/1989, Height: 6'4", Weight: 225 lbs.

MLB.com Analysis
Strengths: He showed a plus fastball and shows flashes of the above-average breaking stuff he once had. He's also got a feel for a changeup.
Weaknesses: There are still some delivery issues, though what got him out of whack as a sophomore has largely been corrected. Command is still a problem at times.

Jason A. Churchill of Prospect Insider
The range of success on this pick is quite large, as Harvey has not displayed the consistency in his delivery, nor a breaking ball that has convinced a lot of scouts that he's worthy of a 2-plus million bonus. There are those who believe Harvey ends up a power reliever, but the Mets are banking on the development of the breaking stuff, and will use the bullpen role as a parachute if all else fails.

Mike Silva of NY Baseball Digest
Harvey is a power pitcher (96-97mph) that just completed his junior season. He needs some work on his secondary pitches and has struggled with his command. Scouts believe there are delivery issues that will need to be worked on during his minor league career. Omar Minaya’s claim to fame is his eye for talent and I trust that he made the best possible pick. The true testament will be the remainder of the draft and how they fare. Some of the best value comes after the first round.

Kevin Kernan of the NY Post
The 6-foot-4 Harvey was 7-3 with a 3.10 ERA this season for the Tar Heels, striking out 93 batters in 90 innings and walking 32... Harvey slipped in his sophomore season with his ERA ballooning to 5.40...He had delivery issues that season, issues that he said he cleaned up after the season

Baseball America
(20th ranked pitcher in draft) Explosive fastball, slider; long arm action hinders command.

DAVID WALDSTEIN and BEN SHPIGEL of NY Times
“He’s kind of in the mold of Mike Pelfrey,” Rudy Terrasas, the Mets’ director of amateur scouting, said of Harvey, who is 6 feet 4 inches and 225 pounds...Harvey’s durability was put to the test April 23, when he threw 157 pitches in a complete game against Clemson.
