NYSS - An Abortion of New York Sports Journalism

The greatest of all sport events will be here soon, the 7th is right around the corner! It is a dream of mine to win one of those sweet Super Bowl travel packages or Superbowl ticketsthat pretty much every store uses for promotional purposes this time of year, though I'd happily settle for the tickets, getting the full package would be amazing. I thought it would be fun to hear from any of you out there in the New York Sports Space and see if anyone has ever attended the big game. I'm curious to hear if it lives up to the hype and is actually worth the cost you paid to go. In the mean time, I love getting together with a group of folks and watching the game on a big screen. As a Jets fan, I'm beginning to wonder if our year isn't coming soon! We always encourage everybody that watches with us to pick a team to pull for, if the Jets are in they're might not be an option. But there's just something about the Super Bowl that brings out the competitive spirit in most people and we have an awesome time cheering on whichever team we choose. Last year we made the party complete with the addition of a half-time football costume contest. So...if you can't actually make the game in person, which few of us ever do, what do you do to make your Super Bowl party one to remember?

Hey Howard, I have been to the Superbowl twice through a former job at CBSSports. I can say this the game while exciting is nothing compared to the circus that leads up to it. the parties, the music the games, the giveaways, the interviews everything is huge. The city hosting the SB has events throughout the week. Security is intense, but thats to be expected. Once the game started I was lucky enough to be on the field. The energy at the beginning is incredible. You feel like you are some place else, not a sporting event, but maybe the coronation of a king. Its very intense. Once the first 10minutes go, its a football game again. Its as intense as the game is, if its a blowout its not that fun. If its a close game like it was when I was there (pats vs. carolina) then its unbelievable. After the game its a lot like the beginning of the game lots of confetti, stuff like that. Champagne is brought onto the field (we stole a few bottles). Id say its def worth it, especially if your team is playing.

Great article Howard. I will send a message out to the members to see if anyone has been to a Super Bowl. I am a jets fan like you so you know I have certainly not. I have been to some rockin Super Bowl parties but the one of the best ones was when the Giants defeated the Pats. it was great to see Tom Brady falter and Eli make some many key throws in their final drive of the game. I watched it at my friends house and he had a party where his girlfriend was feeding us food and beer all game. When Tyree made that catch everybody yelled and screamed and knocked everything all over the floor. Although it must have sucked cleaning it up, it was certainly fun to do
