What are you doing this weekend? How about a Free SLAM DUNK Contest

Sprite and the NBA are touring the country in search of the best amateur dunker with a creative spark. Next Stop - NYC. Come to South Street Seaport (South St. & Fulton St) this Saturday, June 19th at 4:00pm to see the best dunkers in the city compete to win $1,000 in the form of a huge check PLUS a chance to compete for $10,000 and the title at the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown judged by LeBron James, held at the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend in LA.

Obviously they would come to NYC where the best amateur ballers dunk on the reg. Usually when there are street ball dunks going on, I'm standing under the hoop quivering in a pretty sweet pair of kicks. But this time around, I will be in the crowd and probably intoxicated enough to the point where I will yell, scream, and profusely spin a sweat towel around.

The competition is open to all local dunkers ages 18 and up, and will be judged by a panel that includes the Backboard shattering legend Darryl Dawkins and dunker “Los” Smothers, the runner–up in the 2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown.

Best part? This event is free and open to the public. Here is a video of last years event.
